SafeSport is for the safety of everyone in our association!

Five years ago, Hyland embraced the need for SafeSport training and we rolled out an association-wide in-person training program for parents, players, coaches and anyone who even remotely interacted with our members. Parents went through an informative training session separate from their players. The players were grouped together for training with their teammates and the moderator used relatable examples to help them understand their role in their own safety and the safety of all of their teammates.

With the recent and unfortunate issues impacting Youth Sports at all levels, our association is doubling down our efforts to ensure our program is a safe place for every player, coach and member. We are once again scheduling a mandatory association-wide training at the start of this hockey season. Although we are only requiring one parent or guardian from every player's family to attend a training session, we are encouraging all family members who will be coming to the rink to attend one of the sessions. If this is not possible, we expect the family representative who did attend the training to relay the knowledge they gained to the rest of the family.

The Hyland Hills Jr. Hockey Association is committed to improving the development, safety and welfare of its players and all members involved in hockey and our organization. Therefore, it supports the USA Hockey SafeSport Program and CAHA SafeSport Program and requires all players, coaches and members to fully participate.

USA Hockey Provided SafeSport Program Training

One of the most exciting aspects of the USA Hockey SafeSport Program is the online training/education that is available to help our members become aware of the information necessary to help prevent abuse from occurring in our sport.

We are pleased to announce that all USA Hockey registered coaches, officials, employees and volunteers are entitled to take the training at no cost. The training was produced by the United States Olympic Committee. The training is comprised of short video segments that take approximately 90 minutes to complete, however, not all training needs to be completed in one session. We believe you will find the training very valuable and informative, and strongly encourage you to access the training.

To access the training:

  1. You’ll need your USA Hockey membership number (confirmation number from online registration as a Player/Coach, Official or Manager/Volunteer). If you don’t know your USA Hockey membership number (confirmation number) you can access by clicking here – under Member Options, click on ‘Request Duplicate Registration Confirmation.’
  2. If you don’t have a USA Hockey membership number you can get one by processing your Manager/Volunteer Registration for the 2013-14 season. It’s easy to do and there’s no charge. Go to and click on ‘Register Now’…check that you are over 18 and select Ice Manager/Volunteer. At the end of the process you will immediately receive your confirmation number.
  3. To access the training click on the link Click on the Register button on the bottom right hand side of the page.  You will then be asked for your email address as well as a password.
