Jr Jags Learn To Play

Want to learn to play hockey? Let the Jaguars show you how! This program is run by the HHHA coaches and introduces all of the same fundamentals that the hockey association builds on throughout their season. This program is intended for first-time and/or beginner players ages 4-14.

It is designed as a LEARN-to-play hockey program introducing BEGINNERS to the basic skills of the game in a safe and positive learning environment. It is a fun way to develop hockey specific skills as well as a love for the game of hockey! Hockey skills are introduced through structured age and ability appropriate mini games and skill specific stations emphasizing fun.

We do have equipment players can use, however not all sizes are available. Please contact Coach Anna, our Grow the Game Coordinator, at growthegame@hhha.org to set up an appointment for sizing prior to the first day of class. 

From April through August (Spring, Summer and August sessions), registration for the Jr. Jags Learn to Play Hockey lessons will be directly through Hyland Hills Hockey Association. These sessions will not share the ice with the learn to skate lessons.

New for Spring/Summer 2026: Before beginning this registration you will need to register with USA Hockey.

Ice Centre Learn-to-Play Hockey Lessons

From September through March (Fall 1, Fall 2, Winter and Spring 1 sessions) registration for the Learn to Play Jags Hockey lessons will be available through the Ice Centre's Learn to Skate program. These sessions will share the ice with the learn to skate lessons.

FALL 1 – 2026 (6-WEEKS)

Wednesday

  • September 9th – October 28th (no class on 9/30 or 10/14)
  • Lesson time will be 5:00pm-5:30pm or 5:35pm-6:05pm
  • Practice time will be 4:15pm-5:30pm
  • $104.00
  • Registration opens Tuesday, August 18th around 10:00am

Saturday

  • September 12th – October 31st (no class on 10/3 or 10/17)
  • Lesson time will be 10:00am-10:30am or 10:35am-11:05am
  • Practice time will be 10:15am-11:30am

Ice Centre Learn-to-Skate Program

Before enrolling in Jr Jags or the Learn to Play Jags Hockey lessons, we recommend any new skaters to first take a beginner skating class (Snowplow Sam 1 or Basic 1).

Snowplow Sam 1

Any skaters who have never been in lessons before and are between the ages of 4 and 5 years old will start at this level.


Basic 1 

Any skaters who have never been in lessons before and are between the ages of 6 and 14 years old will start at this level.

ICAP Learn-to-Play Jags Hockey Lessons

From September through March (Fall 1, Fall 2, Winter and Spring 1 sessions) registration for the Ice Centre's Learn to Play Jags Hockey lessons will be available through the Ice Centre at the Promenade's Learn-to-Skate Program.
