Recreational to Travel Roadmap
This information is meant to be a general guide for families transitioning from our Recreational program to our Travel program. For more detailed information including Registration Fees, Team Fees and potential tournaments please review our 2026-27 Season Handbook.
In Recreational hockey teams are selected to try and balance the strength of the players within an age division. In Travel hockey, the AA level is the most competitive followed by A then B.
Recreational Hockey
Colorado Recreational Hockey League (CRHL)
- Tiering Season with 6 games (5 games for 10U)
- Regular Season with 10 games
- Playoffs - 1 Game guaranteed
- 2-5 In-State tournaments
- Parent Volunteer Head Coach
- Mixed skill levels on each team, with the goal of balancing the strength of the players within an age division.
Weekly Schedule:
- 1 Weekday Group Practice
- 1 Weekend Team Practice (half ice)
- 1 Weekend Game (either home or away)
Travel B (10U/12U/14U)
Rocky Mountain Hockey Federation (RMHF)
- 15-20+ league games (varies by age division)
- Playoffs - 1 Game guaranteed
- Off-ice dryland training
- 2-3 In-State Tournaments
- 1-2 Travel Tournaments (additional travel costs incurred)
- Non-Parent Professional Head Coach
- 10U B may have a qualified parent head coach

- 1 Weekday Group Practice
- 2 Weekday Team Practices (Half Ice)
- 1 Weekday Dryland Training
- 1 Weekend Home Game* (if no home game, either full or half ice practice)
- 1 Weekend Away Game*

- Playoffs - top 4 teams in the state qualify for playoffs

- 2-3 Travel Tournaments (additional travel costs incurred)
- Head Coach, Matt Adams
Weekly Schedule
- 2-3 Weekday Team Practices (targeting 2 full ice touches / week)
- 2-3 Weekday Off-Ice Trainings
- 1-2 games per weekend
