Competitive Hockey

Hyland Hills Competitive Hockey is more than just a program; it's a breeding ground for elite athletes who excel both on and off the ice. We create a challenging environment that pushes players to their full potential, fostering the development of not just exceptional hockey skills, but also strong values like teamwork, respect, and unwavering work ethic.

Our commitment doesn't stop at the rink – we provide top-notch coaching and facilities, allowing players to compete at the highest levels while fostering a positive and inclusive community. Here, lifelong friendships are built alongside a deep love for the game. Ultimately, our goal is to prepare players for success beyond the final whistle, whether that means achieving college scholarships, pursuing professional careers, or simply developing life skills that will benefit them in all aspects of life. At HHHA, we are dedicated to helping our players reach their full potential as hockey players and well-rounded individuals.

This program is designed to provide competitive levels (AA, A, B) of play for ages 10U through 16U. Teams in this program will play in the Rocky Mountain Hockey Federation (RMHF) as well as travel out of state to several tournaments a season.

Players that are selected for these teams require a larger commitment for players and parents. RMHF teams are leveled according to ability and typically practice 3 times a week, with 1 or 2 games on the weekends. There may be occasional weekday games for RMHF teams as well.

The following table provides an overview of the age divisions and levels available at HHHA. Depending on participant numbers and ability level, all levels may not be available each year.

10U 9 & 10 AA, A, B
12U 11 & 12 AA, A, B
14U 13 & 14 AA, A, B
16U 15 & 16 AA

Ages are determined by the age of the player on December 31st of the year the season begins.

The AA level is the most competitive followed by A then B.

Practices & Games

Teams will practice 2-3 times during the week and have 1-2 ice sessions on the weekend for games and additional practice.

Teams will also be participating in an off-ice training program. Depending on the age group this may consist of speed/agility, conditioning, strength, flexibility and shooting workouts as well as some classroom time for video review and mental performance. These will be scaled to the level of the players and will be discussed in the initial team meeting kick off with your coaching staff.

Goalie Clinics

All HHHA goalies are able to attend weekly goalie specific trainings at no additional cost.

Practice jerseys are included with this program however game jerseys are not included.

Extra Costs - Team Fees

In addition to Association Fees, the Head Coach, Team Manager and Team Treasurer will maintain a team bank account to cover expenses such as tournament fees, coaches expenses, and team building events.

At the start of the season each family will be asked for a deposit to open the account. The initial amount varies by team.

Teams regularly fundraise to offset team expenses and team fees.
